While more and more Americans lose their jobs or suffer financially because of the pandemic, New Jersey families have been suffering from food insecurity for months. Food pantries in our community are struggling to keep up with the demand for families in need. In Ocean County alone, the pandemic has pushed the rate of food insecurity from 8.9% to a predicted 14.2% by the end of the year! If your business would like to help tackle hunger in our area, the Brick Morning Rotary and Wingman Planning have teamed up to launch a food drive initiative for local businesses.
With an ongoing, perpetual food drive, we hope to provide much-needed supplies to local food pantries. Placing 20-25 collection bins at businesses in the Brick area would add a brand new source of donations to struggling charities! Customers would be able to easily drop off nonperishable food items during a visit to your business. Once the bin is full, your business would call the Brick Morning Rotary, who would send a team to collect donations and distribute the items to local food pantries. Joining together businesses, customers, volunteers, and food pantries will demonstrate the strength of our community and our dedication to helping our friends in need. Simply adding a collection bin to your business could make a world of difference to struggling families in our community!
